For some time now Sebastien has been really into the Sutro Tower. Could we see it as we drove from our loft house to the new house under construction? What did it look like at night? Where does it go when you can't see it? He talks about it all the time and recently began to build with blocks and call his constructions "the Sutro Tower". I thought this would be a great study to undertake together so I printed out some pictures of the tower and placed them in the art area for inspiration. That very day was playgroup and Caleb's mother, Niko informed me that Caleb had taken interest in the tower as well in that he was a little scared by it. At one point during the exploration Caleb looked out of the french doors right at the tower and I was able to capture a little bit of what transpired.
Caleb "It's for airplanes. It flies by the tower. It's a little bit scary".
Kathy "What do you notice?"
Sebastien "I notice the tower when I drive by in the car"
Theo "Tower by the car"
I am very interested to see where this goes and have some ideas to further their explorations.
